The director/producer of "Black Womyn: Conversation with Lesbians of African Descent" was at George Mason University yesterday night. Her full length film is a definite purchase, didn't have the necessary cash to get it but indeed I saw it and asked her some questions. She's a cool, down to earth person that has a passion for telling stories. I can dig it because that's what I love to do too. She's worked six years to get this project going and it's a brilliant project. As I was watching clips off of youtube while I was in Oklahoma I wanted more. I told her that too; even suggested she visit Oklahoma. There are many oppressed LGBTQ youth and adults there. So my friend Corrine hosted the event and next she's trying to host Hanifah, better believe I'm there. Anywho I got some advice, met a cool chica and reunited with friends I hadn't seen in a while. Good day!

This is why I haven't blogged in a sec: due to video and marketing work I've been working hard on. Also I've been writing my little heart out preparing for three grant deadlines that are quickly arising. So last weekend I shot this behind the scene footage, then I edited and produced, here is the finished product. Saturday was a good time, I had the opportunity to view how a music video was shot and be apart of one. I was nervous because I showed up and realized I was going to be in the shoot. What??? Okay so Solsis, government Jonquille Rice, invited me to come and see how things got along. I definitely appreciated that thought, so I made it a point to be there. I learned tons and my footage will be used in some way to support Fatso. The video was "These Jeans," the Beat your feet kings were there, dancing and showing off hidden talents. Yup, they can sing too. (The girl apparently doesn't take compliments well tho :/ ha) So eventually I'll get video up. I didn't take pictures but you'll see what's going on in the video! The high school we were shooting in housed people trying to make it, those who already had and then those who just had powerful abilities to do much. much good. After that it was nap time. Didn't set my alarm so I over slept, was planning on meeting Graciela at 9 and I didn't get there until 10:45 p.m. Not a good look but she was still waiting on me, didn't seem like she was in a hurry. It was called the Spring Equinox party, celebrating the new season of Spring. Lovely it was. Most of the people were couriers, so they ride bikes for a living. None of them were bean poles, you know that's what I usually see. :) It was nice talking to them and seeing what they do. There were many different types of people there. Young folk From Guatamala, to New Mexico, to AFrica to U.S. were there. Check them out! O so beautifuL art is! So more and more I'm feeling like the underground art scene of DC is emerging. I'ma bout to be partaking in so many ways. So Tyson, Solsis and I hit up G40 summit. Nice nice it was. It's taking place till the 31st. Check out the times! Thanks to Quillio the navigata & Tyson. Tyson wit his new killa camera!

I just want to thank everyone who made my day & night Sunday at Haiti Uprisin'! It was fearless and bold. Even though I was rippin and runnin and trying to remember so much. The panel discussion proved to be informative. It was recorded so you will be able to witness the convo. I learned a lot about the "business opportunity" Haiti is being seen for right now by many NGO's, non-profits and frankly people who just don't care about Haiti. This transcends into other discussions, ya know?... why must we act so unattached? Everything can be linked and related to each other. IE: music, struggle, loss... ok done. :) Pictures real real soon. The live performance and open mic were on point. N'digo Rose laid it down, I love his odd sense of humor. It makes me feel good! Seriously felt like a lil girly girly talking to him. I can't say it enough, I love the communal feel that it brought together All to benefit the power of being together, caring and feeling!!!! The drummers paid full tribute to Africa... Africa-Brazil, Africa-Chicago, Africa-DC all of it. I dug so deep I almost suffocated. :) not true but I dug.
